Dr. Larry White grew up in Pickles Gap, Arkansas and married his high school sweetheart, Carla Pearce in 1986. Dr. White and Carla have been blessed with three lovely daughters. Their oldest, Haley, is married to Tyler McKinney and currently lives in Warren, Arkansas. Hannah has completed her studies at UCA and is engaged to Seth McCoy with a wedding planned for December, 2017. Their youngest, Hope, will soon be16 and attends Greenbrier High School.
Dr. White grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as his Savior in 1975. He sensed a calling to Christian service during his high school years and went on to pursue this calling at Ouachita Baptist University where he completed his degree in Biblical Studies in 1989. From there, he continued his education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and graduated with a Master of Divinity in Biblical Languages in 1992. Dr. White completed his Doctorate of Ministry degree in Church Health at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2013.
Dr. White has served as the Associational Missionary for Faulkner Baptist Association since 2008. In this role he has served as the “Pastor to Pastors.” He has been active in developing and implementing a revitalization strategy for declining churches and also provided vision and led in renewed emphasis for Cold Springs Retreat. Dr. White has led associational churches to plant new churches in Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas, and Wyoming. Finally, he has served as Interim Pastor in eight churches.
Dr. White is very missions oriented. He has made North American mission trips to Iowa, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Kansas, and Chicago. International trips have taken Dr. White to South Africa, Israel/Jordan, Brazil, Mexico, Armenia, Honduras, and China.
Currently Dr. White is serving on the Board of Trustees at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and at Ouachita Baptist University. He served as the Convention Sermon speaker in 2015 and as the Pastor’s conference speaker in 2013 at the Arkansas Baptist Conventions. He has also been involved with local community organizations such as the Gideons and Bethlehem House.
Dr. White is a man of impeccable character and integrity. He loves people. His preaching, along with his relational skills, connect with each generation of the church. His family is also a strength and an active and vital asset of his ministry.
Kent Dixon is our Associate Pastor of Students (grades 7 through college). He and his wife, Karol, along with their three children Tyler, Micah, and Katlin, came to Woodland Heights in December of 1998. Kent has been serving in student ministry since 1987. He is a graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University and received his Masters in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Kent loves studying and teaching the Bible! In addition, he has a great passion for missions, both home and abroad. He also loves sports, music, and deer hunting!
Kent’s life verse: “You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” – Psalm 16:11
Daniel Dykes is our Associate Pastor of Education and Outreach. He began serving Woodland Heights in August of 1999. He has been in education ministry since 1984 having served 3 churches in Alabama before moving to Arkansas with his wife Lana, and children John and Beth. He is a graduate of University of South Alabama and Southwestern Seminary. He has a passion for teaching and training teachers. His hobbies include walking, golf, sports and reading.
His favorite verse is: “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 2:20
William was born in Kansas, but grew up in southern states. His parents were educators and his father was also a Baptist pastor. William began church ministry in 1969. He graduated from Mississippi College in 1971 with a church music degree. He met his wife, Marianne, at college and they were married in August of 1971.
William earned a Master’s Degree in Church Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, graduating in 1975. He served churches in Corpus Christi, Houston, and Fort Worth from 1976-2007. The Loves joined WHBC in August of 2007 when he became the church’s Associate Pastor of Music and Worship.
He enjoys exercising, gardening, listening to a wide variety of music, bird watching, and singing with the Arkansas Baptist State Convention Master’Singers. The Loves have two adult daughters. Ashlyn lives in Olathe, Kansas, and Erin resides in San Diego, California.
William seeks to give guidance to a comprehensive Music and Worship Ministry that glorifies God, edifies God’s people, and testifies to God’s world.
Steve & Joanna Lasiter – Directors of Family & Children’s Ministry.
Steve & Joanna accepted the call to serve as Directors of Family & Children’s Ministry in October 2011. They are both graduates of University of Arkansas-Monticello and, after attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX., Steve & Joanna, along with their children, Elizabeth, Noah, and Emma, were appointed as missionaries with the International Mission Board. After serving in India and Thailand, God led them back to Conway where they are enjoying serving alongside their church family.
Steve’s Life Verse: Matthew 28:19-20 – “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”Joanna’s Life Verse: Isaiah 61:1 – “The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.”
Colby Gunselman- Assistant Pastor of Assimilation and Outreach
Colby was raised in Winchester, Tennessee. He Graduated from Franklin County High School in, TN before moving to Conway, Arkansas to start school at The University of Central Arkansas. There he is studying Physical Education. He plans on attending seminary after completing his degree at UCA.
Colby was raised in a southern Baptist church where he and his family (mom, dad, and sister) were very involved. He gave his life to Christ at the age of 8 and later at the age of 16 sensed the call to serve in ministry. He has a passion for people and helping them better themselves through their relationship with Christ.
Colby loves to singing, the outdoors, people, and anything sports related.
Sara Black – Church Secretary
Sara has been WHBC’s Church Secretary since April 2014. Originally from Oklahoma, she moved to Conway in 2005. She and her husband, John and two children, Jaxson (10) and Olivia (8) have been active members at Woodland Heights for 8 years. They live on the family farm in Bigelow. When not working and volunteering at WHBC, they enjoy being involved in 4-H, working on the farm, and being active at Woodrow Cummins Elementary School and Ruth Doyle Middle School where Jaxson and Olivia attend.
Susan Houston – Church Financial Secretary
Susan Houston has been the Financial Secretary for WHBC for nearly 14 years. She started in her position in October of 2003. Prior to her work here, she was part time Financial Secretary for her husband, Ray’s small business in Quitman, and full time Mom to their four children. She and Ray have been married 28 years and live in Quitman. Their children: Hayden, Kyle, Collin and Katelyn are grown, married and starting families of their own.
They have two granddaughters, Arabella and Landry, and two grandsons on the way, Liam and Lane. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with the kids and grandkids that live close, and working on the occasional weekend craft project. Kyle and Collin are both active duty Army, so she and Ray take every opportunity, and love to travel (along with their two Chihuahua’s, Shooter and Milo) wherever they are stationed for visits. They especially enjoyed the trip to Germany.
